My husband has been recently placed in a healthcare facility. He’s only 63, and six years into his Alzheimer’s journey. We laugh together, cry together, and think how great it would be if there was a cure.
Learning to live together separately is gut wrenching. It’s very hard to do after being married for 36 years. I don’t think there is a road map for how to adjust. You can only hope for people to be sensitive to your needs.
Alzheimer’s affects both of us equally, and our daughter and grandchildren, as well.
Stay busy. Take good care of yourself and pray. These are the things I do.
It’s been a long road these last six years!
